If you’re tired of getting hit by flying debris while riding your UTV, a windshield just might be for you. These popular accessories help protect you while you ride and are available in various configurations. If you need help picking out a UTV windshield that’s right for you, check out this guide from Honda® of North Carolina.

Pick The Windshield Material

Almost all UTV windshields are made of either polycarbonate, acrylic, or glass. Polycarbonate is by far the strongest option, but it is also the least scratch-resistant. If you purchase a polycarbonate windshield, try to find one with a hard coating. Glass is the weakest option, and you may need to avoid rocks and other hard debris if you purchase a glass windshield. On the plus side, it is also the most scratch-resistant option. Finally, there is acrylic. Acrylic is stronger than glass and allows you to polish out any scratches you might find. On the other hand, if your acrylic windshield breaks, the shattered pieces can create a safety hazard.

Pick The UTV Windshield Style

Once you’ve settled on a material, it is time to pick a windshield style.

The Full Windshield

The full windshield is the most common type of UTV windshield. It offers the greatest possible protection. However, it can also easily become covered in gunk, which makes it difficult to see. If you plan to go mudding, don’t use a full windshield.

The Half Windshield

Half windshields cover the full width of the UTV’s cabin but only go halfway up to the top. If you choose a half windshield for your UTV, make sure that the top of the windshield doesn’t obscure your vision.

Flip Windshields

If you can’t choose between a full and a half windshield, a flip windshield will allow you to switch between the two. Flip-down windshields are very similar, but keep in mind that they can’t be opened to improve airflow and can’t be adjusted from the inside of the UTV.

Rear Windshields

A phenomenon called dust suction can sometimes bring debris into your UTV’s cabin from behind. A rear windshield will prevent this, as well as keep you warm while riding in cold weather.

Full Cab Enclosures

A full cab enclosure is essentially a full front windshield, rear windshield, doors, and roof all combined into one. It offers great protection against debris and weather.
